Blais Civil Engineers

Careers

At the heart of what we do is to unearth a site's potential, add value to it, and then provide lasting solutions that help build a better future for our clients and ourselves. We do this by making connections between people, information, and opportunities.

Small and flexible by design, our firm does work that has a big impact. Our team is down-to-earth, friendly, and easy to work with. Some have even called us fun. We enjoy what we do, and that shows in the way we work together, in the results we achieve for our clients, and in the satisfaction our employees feel working here.

Because we're a small, growing firm; all employees are able to contribute their ideas and experience in making BCE even better at what we do and how we run our company.

Life @ Blais

Because the core of BCE's service philosophy is an understanding and appreciation that every project requires clear and open communication between all internal and external members of the development team, our team and work environment support active collaboration and continuous learning. Therefore, we focus on anticipating challenges, promptly bringing them to light, and proactively working to solve them.

We are a family-focused, flexible work environment with always present opportunities to learn from the expertise and experience of BCE's senior engineers and to actively contribute to each and every project to advance one's managerial and engineering skills in an exciting, high-energy place to work and to be successful.

For engineers new (or relatively new) to the civil design profession, there is little doubt that BCE offers an opportunity to gain more technical experience and expertise at a faster rate than could possibly occur at any larger firm. With BCE, you're not just seeing a small piece of a project (over and over again), you're gaining exposure to a design project from client introduction to ribbon cutting.

Finally, as we're a small, but rapidly growing firm, you may also gain opportunities to hone your mentoring skills and get opportunities to pitch in on firm initiatives and efforts to further improve our organization and to better serve our clients. If you have a "go the extra mile" mindset, you'll do great on our team!

What You'll Get In Return

A competitive salary, a full benefits package, the flexibility and visibility that comes with working at a growing firm (proverbial big fish in a small pond), and delicious craft beer from time to time.

You'd also get the satisfaction of knowing that you're directly involved in our clients' success; and at times, you've led the way!

If you can see yourself on our team, take a quick look through the long (but necessary) list of desired qualifications. If you meet all or most of them, let us know by sending a cover letter and your resume to Steve at sblais@blaisce.com.

Project Engineer

Blais Civil Engineers (Scarborough, ME) is searching for an experienced, down-to-earth, friendly, and highly skilled Civil Engineer to join our team.

What You'd Be Doing

As a Civil Engineer on our team, you'd be responsible for conceptual planning, site design, preparation of drawings and specifications, permitting, and construction administration services on some terrific projects throughout the Great State of Maine.

You'd be digging deep on projects and providing reliable, well-researched information that helps our clients make sound decisions. You'd also help ensure that - from concept to construction - there is continuity between what our clients are promised and what's actually delivered as construction progresses. This position includes office work as well as field work.

Sharpen your presentation skills because you'll be putting them to use at planning board meetings. You'd be responsible for presenting projects and (hopefully!) winning over the hearts and minds of local and state regulatory agencies, as well as project advocates & adversaries alike.

We're a small firm with an eye on growth, so in addition to the above, you may also - as needed - be mentoring other employees or pitching in on firm initiatives. If you have a "go the extra mile" mindset, you'll do great on our team!
